STILL LIFE

FEATURE DOCUMENTARY

In early 2014, a once-proud population became test fodder when a previously unknown coal-cleaning chemical spilled directly into West Virginia’s capitol city water supply. Although the spill garnered headlines across the country, little changed in this neglected realm. Still Life takes viewers beneath the surface of the spill to look at how this stoic population have been poisoned for generations with the same chemical cornucopia found that day. A visceral tale in the wake of a sensational environmental catastrophe, retelling stories from a culture plagued by uncounted spills and intentional waste water injections, accepted as the price of life. With dreamlike imagery these disparate voices chorus in a singular question: has this land already died, or is there Still Life? Filmed and Directed by Johnny Saint Ours, Still Life is in the can, rough cut, and seeking finishing funds.

ECLIPSED

an episodic proposal

In the mid-1990s, an energy conglomerate seized mining plots and mineral rights on the lunar surface. Within a span of months, it began the initial excavation and established a mining complex on the far side of the moon. For it’s labor force, The Company hand picked an assortment of displaced refugees and impoverished workers from the Earth’s most desolate corners.    These isolated workers’ distinct ethnic backgrounds provided the Company with a powerful tool - fabricated racism through the selective allocation of privilege and propaganda, effectively barring any attempts at unionizing. In the early 2000s, they began recruiting, and set their sights on a small group of African miners at a remote mining operation in Lake Winnepasgah, Yukon.    But in the coming years, unexpected physiological side effects plague these lunar-isolated workers. Although the physical afflictions they undergo seem to spell certain doom, what begins as a curse, quickly becomes their only chance of survival.    A story of young love, paternal redemption, bloodshed; the coming-of-age tale of a feral child... in space.
